Trailer Watch: Blade Runner 2049 - Trailer #2

Blade Runner 2049 marks the long awaited return to the world created by director Ridley Scott, starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. The scenes in this brand new trailer look astounding, taking much inspiration from Scott's 1982 film while allowing Villeneuve and cinematographer Roger Deakins to do their own spin.

Here we get a longer look at the scene which made up most of the first teaser, between Officer K (Ryan Gosling) and Deckard (Harrison Ford) meeting, scenes of the film's new environments (most of the film is set in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas), some stylish violent gunplay and a glimpse of Jared Leto's creepy Replicant creator.

It's hard to say if this long belated follow-up will match the masterfulness of the original, but for now, it seems to be in good hands. Villeneuve has stated that he wants to do justice to the film's universe, and being his second science fiction film right after Arrival, it marks an interesting new chapter in his work as a director.

Blade Runner 2049 opens on October 6, 2017.
