Show Notes on Dream a Little Deeper: Alice in Wonderland
Walt Disney’s history with Alice in Wonderland dates back to the early 1900s. Before he moved to Los Angeles, he developed an adaptation where a live action Alice had adventures in a cartoon Wonderland for the Laugh-O-Gram studios in Kansas City. Walt always knew that he wanted to make a feature-length Alice in Wonderland adaptation, but struggled for years on the concept. The war also pushed back production. The film eventually hit theaters in 1951 to fairly negative reviews, so Walt banished it to television land, never to get re-released. But the film saw a surge in popularity in the 1970s.
