Show Notes on Dream a Little Deeper: Dumbo
Walt Disney’s fourth animated feature-length film - Dumbo - breaks the Disney formalism pattern. Instead of striving for realism and artistic mastery, Dumbo’s style is more simplistic. This is due to the financial troubles the Walt Disney Company was facing due to Pinocchio and Fantasia losing money at the box office. It’s also important to note that in the year Dumbo came out, Disney’s animators went on strike to protest the pay disparity and working conditions at the company.
