Trailer Watch: A Ghost Story

One of our most anticipated films of 2017, David Lowery's A Ghost Story became a smash sensation at this year's Sundance Film Festival, with many attendees declaring it to be among the best titles within the overall lineup.

Today, studio A24 gives us our first look at the film, and it certainly lives up to the haunting nature of the premise, as we see various sequences of a man (Casey Affleck) watching over his wife (Rooney Mara) from beyond the grave, draped in a symbolic white bedsheet that's as comical as it is chilling.

While the trailer is brief, it gives us enough of the film's sensibility to not outright ruin too much, nailing the tone and aura of the the supernatural, existential essence that have caused many critics to compare the film to the works of Terrence Malick or Apitchatpong Weerasethakul.

A Ghost Story opens on July 7, 2017.
