Trailer Watch: Kingsman: The Golden Circle
The original Kingsman had its fans. This writer likes it just enough, but can't get over just how problematic it is—if you haven't seen it, there's a misogynistic anal sex joke that truly ruins any goodwill the movie garnered up the that point. That church scene is, in fact, something to behold, but instead of the spy movie lampoon critiquing the James Bond franchise's sexism, it embraces it ten fold.
But hey, we have a sequel! Director Matthew Vaughn returns, as well as Taron Egerton and Mark Strong. New players in this spy game include Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges with a hat (see below).
The new trailer looks like it's amping up the action and the stakes; Kingsman HQ is blown to bits and Eggsy and Merlin head off to America to join forces with the Statesman—you know, they're like Kingsman but with cowboy hats.
Oh, and in case you were out of rumor/casting loop, yes there's a "shocking twist" at the end of the trailer. Fans of Kingsman: The Secret Service will surely love Kingsman: The Golden Circle when it hits screen on 22 September, 2017.
