Trailer Watch: War for the Planet of the Apes (Trailer #2)

Fresh out of CinemaCon, a brand new trailer for this summer's heavily hyped War of the Planet of the Apes, the third installment in 20th Century Fox's rebooted series, has just landed online.

Right off the bat, the trailer brings us through memories of the past two recent Apes films, before launching into a full-out barrage of action sequences. Much time has passed since Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and it's certainly interesting to see a world where the apes are starting to hold the higher ground over humanity. Caesar (Andy Serkis) and his family are threatened by a militaristic stronghold, headed by the nameless Colonel (Woody Harrelson), who is out to destroy the apes once and for all.

Nevertheless, it looks like a thrilling, no-holds barred instalment, and one which certainly played a factor in Reeves getting recently hired for Warner Brothers' upcoming The Batman. It would be a sad loss if Reeves didn't direct the next film in this series, but for now, it appears that he's going full out with the direction.

War for the Planet of the Apes opens on July 14, 2017.
