Show Notes on Dream a Little Deeper: The Package Films

“The Package Films” refer to the four films the Walt Disney Animation Studios released after World War II - Make Mine Music (1946), Fun and Fancy Free (1947), Melody Time (1948), and The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949). Similar to Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros, these films consisted of anywhere from 2-10 animated shorts. The Studios strayed from feature length, artistically ambitious films during this time because it was millions of dollars in debt, brought on by the War and money lost on previous pictures like Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Bambi. Walt was able to make small returns on the Package Films, but in turn, lost his title as top animation producer in the United States.

Below you can find all the resources consulted, videos watched, and pictures referenced for our episodes on “The Package Films” (Episode 7.1 and Episode 7.2).
